Yeah, Julie, but then when you wake up, you'll be forced to confront whatever the newest Pelosi-ism is with a hangover.

I want to participate in this Whiskey Rebellion, and although I like Laphroaig myself, I am obviously more of a patriot than you, so I'm sticking with corn whiskey. I should be trashed enough to forget we even have a government shortly.

My best guess is that it was an environmental thing: we all share the same air whether we like it or not, which means we have to come together to keep it clean...and similarly, we have other "collective problems" that we have to come together to address because they affect all of us. Whether that's more or less barf-worthy than just assuming she was being inane, I cannot decide.

Sean,
I couldn't read the rest. My mind stopped cold at the idea that air is a social construct like government. What are these people on? And WHY aren't they sharing? (It must be good to create this sort of mind bend!)

I'll have to recoup from that one and make a run at it again later, as I'm sure it's worth reading, but... I second your WTF and raise you a "UH?"

Laphroiag is great, heavy peat stuff. So is Talisker. My favorite is Balvenie, but it's too easy to drink! All Scotches considered, I think the best bang for the buck is Grant's (which is made by the Balvenie/Glennfiddich distillery).

"Lesser souls"? Maybe you misunderstood. :)

I'm not using Laphroiag because cost is no object; I'm using it because its cost encourages me to sip sparingly, which in turn keeps me from completely trashing my liver whenever I watch a politician speak. If I were drinking cheaper stuff, I'd be taking hearty gulps every time the President and Speaker of the House opened their traps.

I'm with you on the Whiskey Rebellion, but is Crown Royal okay for us lesser souls?

I have a bottle of Glenlivet (I want to see what the deal is with single malts), but that's waiting for the proper time.
